I really like your post and it is all so very True. We don't hear much True nowadays. Previous Message
We ain't running trials for the convenience and pleasure of the judges. It used to be just about the dogs. Them four hour morning hunts we used to make get longer every year. It takes a damn good dog to go 3 hours at ffa pace and range, handle, and find enough Birds. I'm sad to see that piece of history go. Something went out of trials for me with the passing of the 3 hour ffa. Oh well, it ain't world peace, and nobody gives a sh!t. In those immortal words, "goodnight Mrs Calabash, wherever you are." Is the 3 hour dog passe'? With the change in the ffa format to one and a half hours, there is only the National Ch at 3 hours. The Continental is 1 hour and 50 minutes now. Many dogs don't finish at grand junction, handlers picking up if they don't feel they aren't in the race. So where is the Big incentive to breed or condition for 3 hours? Plus a dog needs to recover from a 3 hour heat.
