: Mr Blaine, have enjoyed your posts for years.
: Happy to hear you are still enjoying your
: dogs. I haven't been to many trials lately,
: and have lost two of the best young dogs I
: ever had or saw. It's real hard to get a
: real good setter, tho maybe not as hard as
: it used to be. I still have a nick or two
: going and if I can keep from fouling them
: up, will have some winners next spring.
: Good luck with your spaniel and (ugh)
: pointers.

I had a real good setter derby back in the day. He was by Flaming Star x Harry McIntyre's old pie b###h, M's Blue Heather. I called him Bandit as he had a black mask. He jumped a deer in a workout on Joe Cannon's grounds in central PA. Long story short, the deer made it across the highway, he didn't. Broke my heart, I loved that guy, raised him in the house from 8 weeks on. I'm sure all you setter guys know how loveable a setter can be - he was that in spades! After that, I switched to pointers, bought Countercharge from Gene Uhlman when he turned pro and the rest is (ugh) history!
