Please allow us now to update you with Dave Hughes accomplishments of the past year, since the Brief Field Trial History was prepared. Dave has become a permanent piece of American field trial history, joining the elite group of John Rex Gates, George Tracey and Shawn Kinkelaar, winning over 100 Championships in their lifetimes.
Additionally, he has now 81 runner up Championship titles and further stands alone with his bid of 12 Grand National Championships with 12 different dogs. As you know, Hall Of Famer Luther Smith is closest winning 5 times.
This past winter season saw Dave competing in the US Quail Shooting Dog Futurity held at the great grounds of Hoffman North Carolina. The venue requires a half hour first series to qualify for the finals. It is quite an honor to join the callback ranks of the 44 dogs initially entered and Dave qualified two of the three dogs he posted.
He has won the coveted title of Purina Handler of the year 3 of the 4 times it has been awarded.
Dave Hughes continues to give back to the sport in numerous ways; he continues to reside on the Grand National Grouse and Woodcock Board of Directors where he holds the title of Vice-President of the Mid-Atlantic Region.
He is a Director of the Pennsylvania Grouse Trial Club and continues to give of himself by judging weekend trial stakes along with prominent events in horseback, walking quail, and cover dog circles. He works hard in this sport to excel and remains humbled by his success. His integrity is high and we rank his devotion higher to do whatever it takes to keep this great sport of ours alive.
Your support in any way to help elect this worthy candidate Dave Hughes, will be greatly appreciated.
