: a couple of months ago one of my horses didn't
: come in to feed (my grandsons were feeding
: and couldn't remember when they last saw
: her) so upon checking I found her at the far
: fence line with her left front leg hung up
: over top of a 4.5 ft page wire fence. After
: cutting her loose she appeared to favor her
: right front leg/foot. She has been xrayed,
: nerve blocked, and currently has a set of
: special shoes that are to support her
: frog/sole area. Unfortunately she is
: seriously limping. The veterinary hosp do
: not seem to know if she will eventually get
: over this or do I now have an expensive
: amount of Belgium fodder!
: My farrier believes it is a Stress founder
: due to her standing on her front right leg
: while her left leg was hung up over the
: fence. We do not know how many days she was
: there so it is conceivable she was there for
: 2 or 3 days at -25C.
: Any one ever have something like this and if
: so what do you think my chances of
: eventually getting a sound horse? Or do you
: have some magic I could try?
Got no magic Doug just don't panic yet.
Time can heal a lot of injuries. My oldest horse of 22 who has never been injured or sick decided to play with the barb wire fence 2 years ago and got his hind leg tore up bad enough I thought he was gone(so did my Vet) as he pulled off 100 yards of wire from their posts. 2 months of bandaging and washing his laceration down and rest @ 6 months later I road him with no ill effects for a 22 yr old horse.....Dave
