If you burn a dog early in his life for errors on birds you may be creating a lifetime of errors on birds. I had an exceptional setter - littermate to a well known dog from a setter kennel in the SE. He had been let to run on pheasants all summer, then (I suspect) got into breaking and got his chops busted for doing what he had been doing all Summer on the prairies. We worked on him for over a year… great until he got to the bird, and he would dance around and flag like crazy. Sent him down the road and he is working on a plantation now.
: Flagging can also be in the breeding - not
: just man made. Most consider it a major
: fault and something that should never be
: placed in a field trial.
