Now days in field trials we have open AA stakes Open SD stakes most every week end. They Normal is to have a very low entry fee which stops pros from attending.I have never attended a ABHA NBHA USCA or other type field trial. They probably have changed some rules to fit the program. We are talking AFTCA.
At one time it was quite a feat for a amateur to win a open AA or SD stake.Normal would be to beat out several pros with number of very good dogs.I notice in the field now days where maybe as high as 12 dogs ran with not a pro attending. Is this really a OPEN STAKe or just a braggen stake.
For me any Open Stake trial should not be labled Open unless at least 3 pros were entered with several dogs. Some of these Open stakes are even called championships which is just not right in my veiw. This practice should be reviewed by the AFTCA
For the betterment of are bird dogs. What do you think?
