Quite a few handlers on the 2013 National Championship vidoe struggled to put pointed birds in the air. That really surprised me. I didn't expect to see pro handlers stomping up a running single at the National Championship. Looked just like what we have to do to get multiple-flushed, exhausted birds in the air at a weekend throw down. Plus all those hawk kills last year. Hawks are smart, they could be pressuring the birds to heavy cover. Bet what birds are there are dug to avoid predation and inclement weather.
If someone would come up with quail meth for the pre-released birds it would make the handling a lot more classy if not the dogs. I for one, appreciate a do that doesn't let down and doesn't jump in when a handler is struggling at putting a bird up. I saw a lot of that on the 2013 video.
