I've got one like that now Harry. Did it last year in a trial. He had a chukar pointed and I was calling and singing. He came back to find me then went back and pointed it. One judge saw it and they did not use him but it sure impressed me because he is a big going SOB and I was glad he thought of me!! Really nice bird dog!!
: When I was younger and still living in OH, I
: hunted every fall, mostly in southern Ohio
: (Highland and Brown Counties mostly). Lots
: of quail, that would have been in the 50s.
: Then slowly, they started to disapear so I
: finally quit hunting. Those were the days,
: some 40 bird coveys, all of 'em at least
: 15-20 birds. And probably a covey an hour.
: Lots of birds and we had some good dogs. I
: hunted mostly with pro Vince Golden and
: another of his customers, Bill Hantzleman
: also a few other guys from time to time.
: Bill had a setter that would leave point and
: come looking for us if we didn't find him
: fast enuf to suit him. He'd show up and
: when he knew we saw him, he'd turn and start
: back in the direction he came from.
: "He's got birds," Bill would say
: and sure enuf, we'd follow him and find him
: pointing. I loved that dog! Talk about
: hunting for the gun!! Harry
