My second hubs liked to gamble. Fortunately he didn't get so bad he'd lose all kinds of money but bad enough the place he'd spend most of his time at in Vegas was the poker table. I was always left to wander around by myself or sit behind him as he gambled. Addiction of any kind can be so devastating. Hooray for your grand niece's husband that he tamed it. Hopefully he'll never fall victim to his addiction again.
