I have researched tons of romance scammers and so much of it fits what this man was saying to me. Many of these men sent their women documentation of their "Contract Award and airline itinerary" for a 6-week job in Malaysia, which turned out to be FAKE. As I said before, he did not get any money, merchandise or anything else out of me.
Red flags went up immediately when he asked if I could "help" him buy 2 Apple laptop computers for him and his son to do their job in Malaysia. He said he had tried to buy the computers himself over there but his credit card was declined due to him being in a foreign country. He said his bank also put a hold on his bank accounts. The holds would not be lifted until he was back in the states and could go into his bank in person. He said his bank was BOA...
It's still shocking to know this "wonderful" man was probably telling many other women the same beautiful things he was telling me hoping they would fall for him, then he could start his scam. (It's very easy to copy and paste words into an email, then just change the email address)
These men have no problem with telling lies to as many women as they can in hopes of finding even a few who will fall for their scam and send them money, computers or anything else they ask for.
One woman who told her scammer story sent over $300,000 to the man she was involved with. She will probably never get any of her money back, but the website did give her agency names and links where she could report all the info about being scammed.
Anyone can report to those agencies. They did say there is almost NO chance of retrieving any of the money they sent to the scammer, but it's best to report it so it may help someone else from being scammed.
Thank goodness I am not desperate and feel I have to buy things for a man to stay in a relationship with him. I don't have to buy a man and never will.
I'm not giving up on REAL GENUINE TRUE LOVE. I know the right man for me is out there. I will be extremely careful from now on. Being disabled makes it difficult to meet men offline, so I will continue to search online.
I now know what words to watch out for and also what occupations could belong to a scammer. Reading those websites with comments from women who have been scammed out of thousands of dollars has definitely opened my eyes so I know what to watch out for.
