I know how it is to live somewhere and have to worry about one of them scampering across the room. I was married at the time when I first seen mice in our home. I went a little crazy until my husband took care of the problem.
It did happened one time back in the late 80's when I lived alone in a small mobile home. I lived there for 2 1/2 years before any mice showed up. I heard a scratching sound for a week or so and wasn't sure what was causing it. Then one day I was sitting on the couch and a mouse came running out of nowhere and ran right into the garbage bag I had sitting by the door to take out. It was stunned for a few seconds, then took off down the hall where my bedroom was. I went out and bought mouse traps and set them up.
Later the same day I was talking to my Daddy on the phone and I heard the trap snap. YIKES! I knew I had caught one of those critters and was very nervous about going out to check, then get rid of it. My Daddy laughed and said that little mouse was not going to hurt me especially if it was dead in the trap!
After we hung up, I finally got brave enough to go check and sure enough, a mouse was in the trap. I grabbed a pair of pliers and used them to pick the trap up, opened the door and threw the trap, mouse and all out the door onto the lawn area! lol I was not about to even touch the trap, let alone take the mouse out!
I hope that would be the only mouse and I wouldn't have to worry about them any more. Well, that night as I was getting into bed, I looked down at the floor just in time to see a mouse run under my bed!! Good Grief! I packed a little suitcase, got in my car and went to Motel 6. I ended up staying there for almost a week as I was scared to go home and stay there. I only went home to get more clothes as fast as I could and was out of there!
I was looking for another place to live while staying at the motel. I found one and got moved out of the mouse house and into the apartment. I made very sure I checked everything I moved to make sure there was nothing moving inside it! The apartment I found was nice and I never had any problems with mice there.
It was such a relief to not have to worry about them any more! I know most people would think I was totally crazy to be paying for a motel room when I had my own place with the rent paid. I didn't care. I was not going to live with mice! lol
