No comment yet from Politico, a left-wing media outlet that supports increases in government spending and doesn't much like the current administration. $8.4M was sent last year, and $8.2M was set to go this year but was stopped by "you know who". Still no story about this topic on the Politico.com website. Hmmm. Perhaps they don't know about it yet or they don't have the staff left to cover it. Oh well - I'm sure they'll get around to it. Get your facts straight Joe. Political Pro is a subscription service that private sector companies as well as federal agencies and individual politicians subscribe to. It offers political news an insight not available on the standard, free of charge, Politico website. That money spent was not a grant or a subsidy of any kind that went to Politico. Those were the total of fees paid by all agencies and politicians who subscribe.
Cancel the subscriptions? Ok by me. Twist it to make it look as though taxpayers are paying for the Politico website and information... not so fast.
It is common for federal agencies to allow employees to expense subscriptions to newspapers, wire services and other media outlets as a function of their jobs, while subscriptions to niche content in a specific policy area can cost thousands of dollars a year. If Musk feels they don't need, cancel away.
