This evening at Manhattans Coffee House down from IMO's.
In person conversations are so much better than FB. The Benda woman running for mayor as a write in will be there. There's also a man running for the park board named Greg who will be there.
Ask them questions. Hear their responses and make informed decisions.
Take a notebook and write down the responses and see if they match up with what you read on social media.
How would she handle the pension fund crisis?
How would she bring new businesses here?
She was quoted as saying she would invest public funds in the S&P which is illegal. Ask her why she thought she could do that.
If elected, how would she reduce the budget and would she give up her realty business to work as the full-time mayor?
Someone alleges she is being sued by another realtor. Is she?
Ask the gentleman who is running for park board what he brings to that table.
Someone said he's now running as a write in for alderman in the third ward. Does he know he can't serve on both boards if he is elected to both? Which one would he choose?
I applaud the meet and greet concept. I think the mayor has one coming up too.
We may try to stop by, but Tuesday nights are usually when the kids come home for dinner, and I don't let too many things interrupt with that.
If anyone does go, please report back.

opi, my niece told me that assuming a person's gender is bigoted, so maybe work on that. BTW, she is nuts, but still. "Mr. President, I'm going to use the autopen to sign these pardons. Do I have your permission?" . "Are they chocolate or vanilla?" . "I'll take that as a 'yes'."

Nothing can help the pension mess without pension reform at the state level. That won't happen with the idiots in Springfield. The policy of the American government is to leave their citizens free, neither restraining nor aiding them in their pursuits. -Thomas Jefferson

Perhaps you're correct Dave but in the short term, (15 years) this mayor at least solved the city problem.
I think Ms. Benda said she would have solved it with higher rates and taxes. Would that have been cheaper on us than the new water and sewer bills?Promises Made, Promises Kept! Republicans stood, the liberal left wept.

Oh no argument on that. Park is doing the best he can.
Benda would have been better than Hagnauer and Selph though. They were absolute trash. The policy of the American government is to leave their citizens free, neither restraining nor aiding them in their pursuits. -Thomas Jefferson

I know you can't be as old as I am Dave. I can go back to Von Dee and maybe even one of Schuler's' terms.Promises Made, Promises Kept! Republicans stood, the liberal left wept.
