I enjoy it. I have never laughed so hard with some of the content. It is sensitive to your likes and dislikes.(algorithms) You can follow certain content providers. I like Katie Van Slyke, the Older Millennial, skye, and artful rodger. All the news outlets use it. It is financial income for hundreds of thousands of Americans.
From Google AI: TikTok can be a source of personal income for creators, although it's not a guaranteed or easy path to wealth. TikTok offers several ways for creators to monetize their content and potentially earn money, including the Creator Rewards program, brand partnerships, affiliate marketing, and live streaming.

Blu,
I'm tech challenged. I do well to get on here by remembering my password and clicking on the right buttons.
That's why I let Mrs. O handle FB and she reads me some of the nonsense. Neither of us do this TikTok thing.CHIEFS THREE-PEAT

I have never shied away from admitting Trump as having a big ego, and the fact that he likes TikTok now for his own personal reasons should not be in any way a factor in how he tries to handle it. The Chinese use that platform to spy on all of us, and this Supreme Court got it right. It also does not matter how well he gets along with Xi because they lie damn near as much as the Democrats. So, if he can assist in brokering a deal fine, but his role needs to be minimal.Ok, Trump being cheered at the Super Bowl was pretty cool, but I do kind of miss the F**k Joe Biden chants.

Okay. I found this for your question.
"is it a big deal if it goes away?"
TikTok delivers more than just entertainment: it fuels significant economic growth for more than seven million businesses and the U.S. economy as a whole by helping to support more than $24 billion in gross domestic product (GDP), and more than 224,000 American jobs, delivering a competitive edge to small businesses across the nation.
The study also found that nearly 40 percent of SMBs say TikTok is critical to their businesses' existence, which is home to seven million businesses and 170 million active users in the US.
The research by Oxford Economics also shows:
224,000 jobs were supported by SMBs use of TikTok as a platform to grow and expand their business;
SMBs use of TikTok as an advertising and marketing platform supported a total of $5.3 billion in taxes to the US government in 2023;
and
TikTok’s US operations themselves supported an additional $8.5 billion contribution to the GDP, $2 billion in taxes, and 59,000 jobs across the US economy in 2023.

Trump has not made a final decision on the fate of Tik Tok... I guess Musk hasn't had time to tell him what to do yet, been busy with his rocket blowing up.
