If we’re serious about making a dent in our debt, let’s tax the oldest pyramid scheme that’s caused more wars and shielded more pedoes since time began.
I’m calling for it: religion should no longer be a shield with which to allow the laundering of money.
Happy Thanksgiving,

It always comes down to this at some point, doesn't it?? Tax those evil churches.
As soon as Planned Parenthood is gutted I would be ok with looking at the churches. Im sure with some, taxing them out of existence would be the goal, so safeguards would have to be in place.Damn, Tim Walz really really really wants to be a U.S. Senator pretty badly.

Maybe you thought I would agree with this.
Joel Osteen, Kenneth Copeland, and all churches that have radio shows and take conservative stances on said shows.... Tax the hell out of em'...Tax Robert Jeffress and TBN and all of em to their knees!
But the rest of the Churches...
You're messing with the world's largest charitable giver....
How many nights of shelter to the homeless do you want to take away?
How many free clinics do you want to close?
All that liberal stuff in the Bible that is actually there for all those who really care to see what's inside......
You want to take that away by TAXING it out of their hands and giving it to the TRUMP led government?
Get wise, fool.Everything I said in my post above. And.... Foxtrot Delta Tango

I wouldn't say tax the ones with conservative doctrines......... That's a different story.
I think I am talking about the ones that try to affect political outcomes.... then yeah tax em.
If there were a preacher on liberal radio and TV trying to do the same thing....tax them too.
Generally I'm against taxation of churches, realizing the good that most of them do in the world.
It's just there are a few out there not living up to their mission and giving all the others a bad name. Everything I said in my post above. And.... Foxtrot Delta Tango

How about quit talking about raising taxes period. Cut out all foreign aid and discretionary spending and you wouldn't need to talk about it. Foreign aid is easily the highest form of money laundering. The policy of the American government is to leave their citizens free, neither restraining nor aiding them in their pursuits. -Thomas Jefferson

Way to go PillowGuy - stir it up. I like reading the different opinions. If you don't read the papers, you're uninformed. If you read the papers, you're misinformed. - Mark Twain

Thanks.
It’s my opinion that most organized religion is a simple grift.
It’s going to be cold this weekend.
Will your chosen place of worship fling open its doors for the weak & weary and offer them respite or just pontificate Sunday and pass the collection plate?
Tax them, mpgAaaaarggghhh! Chainsaaaaawww!

Yup.....mine walks the walk. Sadly, they had to balk away from rent assistance because it was too costly. But turning on lights, resuming water and heat... Yup.
Tax it and you're giving it to the soon to be Trump government for them to control..... No one house of worship could solve it all.
This is where I fight liberals tooth and nail. There may be people who fall left of center because they really did read the good book and didn't just raise it as a prop.
It's okay to be lumped in with athiests, LGBTQ, and everyone else that the self-righteous Christian Right wants to ignore.....
But I'll still stand against blanket statements that all religion is bad or that the conservatives think they corner the market on it.
Some people take that Love of God and Love of Neighbor thing seriously, and care for creation too.
If the Christian Right were not so hypocritical, I might have remained a decent Republican, but still a never Trumper.
Just read the red letters, and then write an opposite narrative, and you have the Trump agenda.
Trump is anti 'person quoted in red letters'... and perhaps alluded to in the last book too.
But that's as far as I want to go today.
