He didn't have the presence of mind to take control of the interview.
He could have easily taken control of the moment, he could establish something like "Where are your manners?" "Who are you?" "Now that we have met, ask one question at a time..." "Can I send you a free pillow or a matress liner?" or "Thanks for the interview, but I need to find the men's room....you don't want me to hang around much longer." He had more pivot points at the United Center than the Chicago Bulls, and he wasn't smart enough to use them. He acted like the Blackhawks, when they are shorthanded 5 on 3.

Trump is going to lose because of Democrat Lawfare and if that doesn't get the job done, the next guy won't miss. I would never question the Democrat's desire to do whatever needs to be done to sit on the throne. The Republicans on the other hand, not so much. If Trump hating Merchan decides to end this, he will simply ignore the Supreme Court and sentence Trump to some maximum security prison with even less security than was afforded him in Pennsylvania. He would rather take a chance doing that than survive a mob. To know what will go down all you have to do is watch Kamala and the Clown fawning over Maduro in Venezuela after he just stole another election.
