Kids USED to come first, or so the teachers' unions said. Talk is cheap. "Public education is a socialist monopoly, a real one." - The Late Milton Friedman, Nobel Laureate and U of Illinois Professor of Economics
Chicago Teachers' Union DEMANDS electric buses and green brainwashing of kids, rather than teaching them. Seventy-five percent cannot read at grade level while eighty-three percent cannot do math at grade level. And another thing - WE DEMAND MORE MONEY (for poorer performance, of course).
if only it was so simple as a teachers Union or teacher being the reason so many inner city children do poorly in the classroom..
I would suggest you do some research on the many factors that go into education. You know things like attending class, changing schools evert few months, parental involvement..just for a few starting points..
If you ask me, those that can’t be put upon to graduate 12th grade by the year they turn 18, conscription is the answer.
If the parents won’t do it, Uncle Sam is good enough for them.

But if they're forced to do work for the state, and they get hurt, Mike or Brown and Crouppen or Brown and Brown or Morgan and Morgan or Cofman and Townsley or Schultz and Meyers or Goldblatt and Singer or someone will jump all over it. If you don't read the papers, you're uninformed. If you read the papers, you're misinformed. - Mark Twain

I’d say that bot-farm “wisdom” being passed on to half-wits that can’t tell propaganda from reality via the internet is more pervasive than the whole of public education being rotten.
