I heard she gets &250,000 a year, a city car and when she goes to Washington D.C. to advise Biden, the city covers her trip expense. Oh and she got 20 buildings in downtown GC for free. Of course Mrs O said that’s what’s on Facebook.

Why do you care? If you don't have anything nice to say just say nothing at all. The D of T is one of the hardest working women in the city,,,,if not the hardest working at city hall. She has the experience and drive it takes to move this city forward,,,,even if shes met with resistance most of the time.

The resistance and lack of support she deals with is out of jealousy. Its the handful of people that are threatened by her many accomplishments that refuse to put their support behind her. I think they know she could easily,,,,become the next mayor!

That being said, if the D of T is responsible for all of the Route 66 nostalgic attractions, she deserves a good salary.

You know how the mayor's gig goes in this town, they pretty much stay as long as they want. Whoever the next mayor is going to be is probably still in high school now.

I think ANY tax payer in this town SHOULD care and has the right to ask this question.

Why do you care it was asked?

I am not sure how asking the salary of a city employee qualifies for "not saying something nice".

Its this kind of attitude that turns people off. Why are you trying to silence the questions?

WHM, good to see you again and I agree. All public salaries are part of the public record. One should be able to call the treasurer and ask or possibly even the clerk. If you can't get it by phone, there is always a FOIA request.

You're correct about how everyone should care. In fact, so much so all hell has broken lose within the administration and many connected to it. Some local business owner went public on a Facebook video slinging around all kinds of accusations about a few members of the city council, city hall employees and a well-known business owner. Accusations of bullying, favoritism, and even brought up the new concert venue the Mill and some of the same concerns I've been reading on this board for months.

She is threatening to go public with another video to expose more information about who was hired to run and book the Mill, all about her large salary and also possibly a contract allowing her the proceeds of the alcohol sales. This woman has opened up a can of worms that nobody, regardless of their title, will be able to put the lid back on. People are pissed! People are talking and they are damn sure are demanding answers. When you have the mayor himself arguing on Facebook groups, and the people telling him "this is not a good look for you or the city" and it doesn't even slow him down, nothing good is going to come from this.

Obviously, there are too many close ties or entangled threads of this web for the voters to think the mayor can remain unbiased. When he has one of his council members run a Facebook group titled 62040LLC, he gets to control the narrative and at even his smallest hint or request, that group owner follows his directions and suggestions, and does so PUBLICLY directly in front of a private membership of 6000 people or so, it does not put the entire administration in a positive position in the eyes of the town. How can a council member take suggestions from the mayor for deleting comments, approving posts and comments and membership? The lack of transparency and fairness almost seems illegal or at the very least unethical. I'm afraid this entire mess and current situation may cost the mayor the next election.

People are starting to express their desire to back another candidate, Brad Eavenson, over his transparency and unbiased views. I know many that will gladly support this effort if Brad can be talked into stepping up for the city. I guess time will tell.

We're better together we're Granite City strong??? REALLY? I think we may be better apart, but I'm probably being over dramatic. Despite these little ripples I can say without a doubt, the current mayor isn't going anywhere for the next 3 terms at least unless he just wants to move on. Remember the last mayor, everyone hated him supposedly, but it took forever to run him out on a rail. I love watching the theatrics play out though, it's damn entertaining.

Follow up on the previous post, and I found some clues in the City Council minutes a while back. It looks like the focus is on Arts and entertainment, and fair compensation for expertise and time. And the City is smart to take a chance in this area as the heavy industry is depreciating, and polluting. So why not take a shot at arts and entertainment along with other industries? (And I don't count low-end retail as an industry to go after) Plus, building an art scene is not a sure thing, and not quick, so whoever starts the ball rolling is going to catch a lot of grief. In my view, Granite City ought to hollow out Hollywood and go for it. St Louis ought to be the next Hollywood, but St Louis bureaucrats, officials and the like are tied up in arguments over reparations and related.
