The coming primary elections in the county are going to be interesting, Kurt Prenzler has a challenger Chris Slusser for County Board Chairman.

Mr. Slusser has some issues he never disclosed as a canidate,he was terminated from his job as a police officer for theft for breaking into his Supervisor's office and stealing documents. This has been kept secret from the public since elected Treasurer.

Chris Slusser on July 26,2023 proclaimed record performance on investments, despite also stating "if I had to sell the whole $218 millioon in bonds, "yes" we would loose money"

Mr. Slusser states he has a "record Performance" as Treasurer. Mr Slusser does not have a CPA degree CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT.

I feel voters should know more about Slusser before he is allowed to be our next Madison County Chairman, his past as a police officer was disgraceful to say the least.

Starting the smearing a little early aren’t we Prenz? Whatever Sclusser did, he’s still not a clown line Prenz . Of course I can’t vote a democrat primary so I will leave that choice blank and try to convince my conservative friends to do the same.

Seems our choices in the county are pathetic as many dems will pretend to be republicans.

Prenzler is sending his cronies out early to hurt his opponents. He cracks me up using this site because he hasn’t done anything for this immediate area.

He wants to take over MESD to appoint one of these user names folks as chairman. Won’t work Kurt.

What I don't understand is since when did seats on the MESD board become a lifetime appointment? Once you're in you're in for life. What happened to when your term was over, it was over? What is it that makes these seats on this board golden? Why at Mrs. Dixon's age once her term was over, would she not step aside? I would hate to think this is an insurance issue. Are MESD board members given medical insurance? Is it a family plan where husband and wife both can be covered? How much of the cost is paid by the city? I would hate to think that one of this city's most financially comfortable couples are being handed medical insurance at the expense of the taxpayers.

Hidden agendas or neatly tucked away agendas have recently surfaced and its grabbed the attention of the voters of GC. Trust is now in short supply and the democrats are feeling the crunch since the last election involving county board spots.

Election times sure pulls the haters out of the woodwork, but you have to stop and ask yourself why, exactly why are these people on this witch hunt? What exactly is at stake here? You have to stop and take a step back and ask yourself, if these same people so easily target a long-standing pillar of the community, an Air force veteran, a coach, a public servant of many years and a civic minded neighbor like John Janek, is there a line they won't cross?

What person with a functioning brain would vote against putting this PTELL on the ballot giving voters a choice? Who or what kind of people wouldn't be against tax hikes and why? Who has a memory good enough to remember a surplus of money that Prenzler suggested years ago of putting some of it back into the pockets of the taxpayers? Again, who would be against these kinds of suggestions and ideas? Why is Mr. Janek's name coming out of the mouths of these democrats? It sounds like a mission to target anyone of those who refuse to jump on their bandwagon of hate. I can't pretend to know all there is to know about Prenzler, but when someone steps out into the line of fire to bring to light backdoor referendums where the public announcements are buried in a paid subscription newspaper that serves St. Clair county, resulting in more debt for the taxpayers instead of paying off old debts first, or wanting to put PTELL (Property Tax Extension Limitation Law) on the ballot for the people to vote on, that tells me he is not nearly as self-serving as most other politicians are.

Why are the Dixon's leading the charge to make Prenzler "disappear"? What do they have at stake?

I see the failed Nameoki Township Attorney Ms. Tonja Cook commented, she resigned from Nameoki in November 2023 as the Attorney after law suits and several criminal investigations of Supervisor Foster. I feel for the new Nameoki attorney Ms. Buford , Ms. Cook left her a mess to clean up, I don't think Ms. Buford is a criminal attorney either. Prayers for her and Nameoki.

for these adult student council candidates.

Although being insulting to high school student council members, this is the funniest thing I've read today.

You don't have to go back to far to see why Prenzler is doing this and who is doing his bidding. A few months ago he tried to appoint someone that he controls onto that board.

So the issue really breaks down to those in charge will always try to do things to increase their foothold on their small domains.

In the level of state political connections, Prenzler is laughed at. He's a nobody. We've only had one powerful county board chair when it comes to connections and that was the late, great Nelson Hagnauer. He got things done for Granite, Madison and Pontoon. Prenzler hasn't even been down here as far as I know.

Anyway, this thread is laughable because of the trolls.

Slusser stated in his Facebook post Friday night he was appointed by the county board so he wasn't appointed by Kurt Prenzer.

Secondly, I want to know why Slusser's first fiancé broke off the engagement. What was the argument about?

Chris Slusser has served as Madison County Treasurer since December 21, 2016, when he was appointed by the Madison County Board to fill a vacancy. He won election to a four-year term in November 2018. Previously, Chris served on the Madison County Board, representing District 15, from 2008-2012, and was again elected to the seat in 2016, just prior to his appointment as Treasurer.

Madison County Board chairman Kurt Prenzler has selected his successor as treasurer, according to a press release.

County board member Chris Slusser (R-Wood River) will be appointed Wednesday night to fill the seat left vacant by Prenzler after he was elected county board chairman. Candy Gilstrap was appointed as interim treasurer earlier this month until the position could be permanently filled.

Prenzler, who held the position of treasurer for the past six years, said he picked Slusser due to his financial and real estate background.

“I believe Chris has the integrity and background necessary to safeguard the taxpayer’s money,” Prenzler said. “I’ve known Chris the past 10 years, plus he has experience in county government.”

If the Board had not given him the votes, the vacancy would have remained open until another recommendation was presented to them. They could also reconsider.

Party affiliation means nothing in the sheriff and coroner positions. Not too often does a coroner ask a deceased person if they are democrat or republican. Democrats of course will register them after they are deceased just to pick up a couple more cemetery votes.

Until your political career (or deep-seated personality disorder) compels you to rise the ranks and get to state level or national politics, I really don’t care how the dog catcher, backup comptroller, county jester, etc. identifies party-wise.

How one comports themselves, say, on a golf course or in a bar room is a greater indicator of their fitness for duty than affiliation for these roles.

You can learn a lot a person in those settings.

Once you encounter the actual personality, not the talking points or platitudes - then you see what you are or are not voting for.

Anyone who understands if they want to raise taxes tied to your property, ie school, library, fire, police, park district etc and you are not in a home rule town, it has to be on the ballot.

I hear the whole dirty cop thing, and I know how the other side wants to blow it off by saying that was over twenty years ago. Everyone's favorite gets a free pass from those who support them, it doesn't matter what or when they have played fast and loose with the rules. K.P. let's be fair is hardly a Boy Scout either, we have all seen his accusers on here point out his flaws, and some of them may have even been done accurately, or at least close to it. Does he too play fast and loose with the rules?

I do not know who is going to come out of this the victor but I'd like to see a large percentage of the voters focus on who they believe will do best for the county, and not for all this other stupid. That includes the promised big explosive bombshell of epic proportions that will shock the world.

We have a lifelong politician in the White House who's one of the biggest crooks in American history, plus he has dementia. None of these candidates are flawless, none of them. Not your guy, not the other guy, not any of them.
