Giuliani reportedly earns 400K per year from a radio show, but he has tons of legal bills. His buddy Trump hosted a $100,000 per person dinner at his golf club in NJ in support of Trump and Giuliani. Not sure how much it raised, but I'd be Trump kept the majority of it for himself.
You just answered part of it. He makes $400,00 a year. His lawyers will argue that there is no way, at his age, that he has enough net worth to pay this debt.
The verdict was to appease the people who hate the man, and that's typical of our judicial system.
However, as his lawyer, I would also argue that he is ruined not only financially but also personally. Right or wrong, this will be appealed, and the judge or appellate court will knock it down. Otherwise, he can declare bankruptcy and it will be lowered much like other creditors.
