Someone may want to show the Benda woman a map of our ward. Unless the city annexed part of Pontoon Beach into ward 5, this lady has about five signs outside the ward.
Also has several on Madison Avenue?
Me and the Mrs. will go to early voting Monday and vote for Jim Hawkins. Hate early voting but will be in the sunshine state for two weeks including election week. Golfing and relaxing so needed after this winter.they did not fail, because they did what their country asked of them....

I am curious why it would seem a problem if a sign appears outside of the jurisdiction.
My research team and I located some ward maps of Granite City and found that while three of the wards are compact and reasonably contiguous, two others are are quite expansive. Ward 5 is one that is quite expansive, especially pulling in individual properties that have been annexed. On some blocks of the ward, some houses are in the city, and some are not.
Ward 1 is especially egregious, where it connects the frontage of Horseshoe lake in the South, with the Village limits of Hartford to the North.
Ward 2 is much more compact, but seems to have the least real estate along main thoroughfares.
People would be expected to move from ward to ward...and if Opinionated had his way, they would work, shop and worship all within the 5 Wards of Granite City.... You could live in Ward 5, pay a fine in Ward 1, do some shopping in Ward 3, and maybe go to church in Ward 2 or 4. Why does it hurt seeing a ward 5 sign in another part of town?
Why can't they see their candidate's signs in places outside of their Ward as they move about the city? Why does it matter if a sign is placed in an unincorporated area or in the suburb of Pontoon Beach?
If enough affected citizens still see it, why is it a problem? When you ban books before you ban guns, you've admitted that you're more afraid of children learning than you are of children dying.

Benda has been basing her campaign against Mike Parkinson...I do not think she would make a good alderman for ward 5. Hawkins has been the alderman in ward 5 for a couple years and does a fine job and gets along with other city officials...my vote goes to Hawkins...I do not care where Benda puts her signs....

Dee, you've made some way off based posts before but this one takes the cake and indicates a lack of understanding of campaign work.
The late Nellie Hagnauer once told me that the only reason people put signs outside of their voting area, is because they don't have enough support and requests for signs in their area.
Pontoon Beach has its' own politics and to waste signs out there shows she's short of support. Same as having six of her signs on Madison Avenue. I'd say it's a good indicator that Mr. Hawkins is the odds on favorite in his ward.
Counting Millgirl and his own family, he already has at least five votes.
Stay in your lane liberal. You obviously don't know the difference between campaigning locally and regionally. LOL! JKthey did not fail, because they did what their country asked of them....

when going door to door she had a lot of complaints about the mayor, not approving of many things he and his administration are doing..I think the mayor is trying his very best to make Granite a better place with many improvements and more to come..it sure helps to have a lot of Covid Money to spend on these much needed improvements...like sidewalks, curbs, improvements at the ditch and everything that is happening downtown....I do not have any issues with Mr Parkinson (at least not yet) LOL

She hasn’t been on our street yet. I know she had issues with Parkinson early in because she tried to run a U Haul business from an office that wasn’t zoned for it.
Short of that I don’t know why she gripes.
Making the mayor the bad guy won’t get her elected against Hawkins. I guess when you have nothing to offer you go on the attack.
Supposedly she’s a real estate agent but I don’t see her names on for sale properties.they did not fail, because they did what their country asked of them....

Im not sure the Covid slush fund can be used for just anything and everything. If that were the case every small and medium-sized city mayor would be an instant genius, just for the fact that they were in place during the distribution.
Dont get me wrong, nobody is going to refuse the money, even though it was the result of a massive Federal Government fraud.Covid fizzled out, unleash the smoke.

Her signs on Madison Ave are in front of her realty company. That being said, I do not have dog in this race as I am a Pontoon resident. However, when I saw her signs on Pontoon road I laughed. The run in I had with her personally in while purchasing my home a few years back told me everything I needed to know about her. Plus the things I have heard her do around town. There is no way she is alderwoman material.
