Wednesday 3/1/23 There was a big Police Presents at the high school . Fighting with our Teachers, School monitors, police, Never did Verify if there were weapons were involved . Whats wrong with our youth. Come on Granite City we're better than this! Sad time are here ..

Perhaps it was only a couple of fights, or maybe it was six as I've also heard. Either way, for the police to be called tells me the inmates are running the asylum. Many of these students have never had any consequences for their actions since their birth. They better get a handle on this before it is too late. It's not fair that the good students, the non trouble makers have to put up with this nonsense.

In spite of their efforts to downplay the whole thing, and that's exactly what Cann did, they still managed to make the local news.

EMBARASSING, get it together school board!

They all need to be voted out, every single one that is currently sitting, when their term is up, needs to be gone. THEY HAVE FAILED THE STUDENTS.

Please look closely at those running because EVERYONE IS ON THE "Back to neighborhood schools" bandwagon. There is much more to be considered than that single issue they know can get them votes.

Sadly, this is a trickle down mentality brought on by soft on crime liberal policies.

Laws have been passed that limit what can be done to punish kids who disrupt an entire school operation just as police officers have been limited in how they deal with criminals.

Did we expect anything different?

Kids no longer get in normal one on one fights. There’s a gang and thug mentality now where they actually want to permanently damage another kid.

We need to return to civilized behavior or severe consequences. Expel these little bastards so the kids who really want to be in school can be there without fear.

Liberals will feel sorry for these thugs. Awe, they’ve had a tough life. Poor little babies should be taken to the cafeteria for warm milk and cookies.

Send their punk asses to the marines for some boot camp discipline and they will figure it out.

In the meantime, lock your doors, carry a weapon and send your kids to private schools.

You reap what you sew.

Opie, I agree with most of what you said...I think the schools need to be much tougher on the kids who gang up to attack another student...I guess I am not a Liberal after all...LOL

Blame the liberals or democrats again.

If Liberal policies would actually be enacted....we'd have about as many discipline problems that they have in Finland.

Each school district would be funded equally and schools would be well equipped for learning.

When is the last time you heard about a school shooting there?

Maybe it's time to invest liberally in something other than football fields, baseball diamonds, and gyms......

And invest...in EDUCATION.

It's not the liberal policies...but the lack of them that keeps education from being effective in the United States.

Just like the post about picking on the kid with special needs (which is very wrong) --- we act as if all of this is new to Granite City...and that it was somehow safer 'back in the day'.

It just wasn't. There may be a different cast of characters in the play, and that might be what is disturbing. Maybe as Granite City continues to gradually deteriorate, there may be more instances of discipline issues...but if there were those 'halcyon days of yore' - we would have to go back at least 3-4 generations to find them in Granite City.....and that's a fact.

But it's not liberal policies. The same problems that were present (and exacerbated) in the Reagan Administration are still present today. The grandma's who walked the halls in the 70's and 80's also saw fights, witnessed domestic violence at home, had to shift between homes when the rent was due, had to hide from alcoholic dads - creepy uncles - and moms and aunts who were either taking responsibity...or leaving it to big brothers and sisters... Some of those folks are with us, some are dead..... but their kids and grand kids...many are now third and fourth generation living in unstable environments.

Liberal policies are a convenient scapegoat, but facts get in the way of the narrative once more.

When you ban books before you ban guns, you've admitted that you're more afraid of children learning than you are of children dying.

Zero students in 23 different schools across the city of Baltimore are proficient in math. Ninety-three percent of third through eighth graders also tested below grade level in math. (Ooops, i forgot, we just need to throw more money at it and quit playing football.) Do you think Baltimore is a Conservative Republican city??? Im going to take a wild guess and say no. Maybe instead of teaching, CRT, Muslim Studies, and Transgenderism, the focus should be a little bit more on teaching and not social activism and Wokeism.

Just another guess, but I'm pretty sure Conservatives and or Republicans are not doing very much of the educating in Baltimore or any other major Democrat city in this country. Also I'm just not sure we can print enough money to fix what the Democrats have spent decades systematically destroying. My sincerest suggestion would be to take the leftist mind polluters and have them jump off the top of a ten-story building, but of course, my dreams never come true.

While I can not deny that Republicans and conservatives love to talk about what they are about to do if and when the liberals cross over just one more line, they will never be the incessant natural born liars that liberals are.

I agree with almost everything you said except one thing Opie. I know you didn't mean it that way, but I don't want to use any of our military branches as a dumping ground, they deserve better than that. Back in the day, it was a thing to tell a hooligan, you can go to jail or the Army, it's your choice. I didn't like it then either.

Dee, there's such a difference in the JFK democrats than the left-wing liberals of today. Joe Biden is probably closer in reality to a JFK democrat that a Bernie Sanders liberal. However, he has to kiss a little liberal rear end to accomplish some of his goals.

You can't, well you can but you'd be wrong, to say that the kind of discipline problems that we saw in our community last week were non-existent even when my kids were in school.

Most of this starts at home with parents who don't discipline or teach their kids any respect for authority including teachers and police officers.

I do lay much of the latter at the feet of Obama who basically declared war on the police after Ferguson. Does he hate the police? I don't think so. Did he help push a narrative that cops use excessive force? I think so.

Blame who you want. Hold harmless who you want. If we don't change things, we'll be facing more crime and more problems. Oh, and thanks for keeping the "guns bad" narrative going. Frankly Finland doesn't matter to too many in our country.

I feel that the Granite City school system is well-funded, and I feel that the curriculum of studies, including physical education/sports is solid.

It would be nice to bring in moral education along with etiquette and respect.

98% of the child population in Japan are currently enrolled and ATTEND public education.
