So the ringer that was brought in to secure a three year deal for Dr. Cann isn’t running to retain that appointed seat. Keep in mind that the people interviewed to fill the vacancy were asked if they would commit to running in April because that was important to them.
Then, after all that planning by the Board, Ms. Bryant’s vote wasn’t needed as an assumed no vote gave in at the last minute and cast the necessary vote to extend the contract.
Bryant abstained (she was too new to vote anyway) Willmsmeyer abstained (relative) Venne yes Knogl yes Nunn yes Curran yes Stacy NO
So as some speculated, Bryant was just a ringer brought in for a vote with no intention of running. Remember these people at election time. Very disappointed in two of the members. Knogl and Venne were shoe ins.
On a bright note, there are loopholes in every contract. Dr. Cann was brought in from the outside and hasn’t moved the needle on test scores and seems to only be interested in getting her picture on FB. Admittedly she’s an attractive young woman so it’s better than looking at Nancy Pelosi. LOL
There are nine choices for candidates and only one incumbent. Looking forward to hearing their views. Hopefully a public forum will be held.Promises Made, Promises Kept! Republicans stood, the liberal left wept.

Curran has tried repeatedly to get on the board I believe. Once he started a facebook and hijacking info from other facebook pages, he finally got a following and his name became familiar. Those who liked his facebook history pages voted in a recognizable name.
Isn't Venne married to the Venne who knew all about Crider's escapades with the minor student and was present when all of it went down with that girl's parents? At least that's what Crider claims in his little tell-all.
I'll be honest about it, I don't have much use for any of the sitting members at this point. None of them. But particularly Curran and Venne,

I am undecided on some of the board members and whether I would choose to vote for them for another term. That being said, I personally, as a parent do not have any complaints about Ms. Cann. She was handed a district that was already in distress, ran by a good ol boys club for way too long, plus in the start of a pandemic. Something that NONE of us could have expected or dealt with on the fly. No district was ready for what they had to deal with, yes, there were some things that could have gone better, but just as in every aspect of life, you work and you make it better. I have not had any personal dealings with her. However, I have been at events that she has been in attendance and she is always involved with kids. I do believe that her heart is in the right place and she is trying to do what is best for our kids. That being said, you keep referring to her as an out "outsider". So since I am an alumni of GCHS, if I go elsewhere and further my career and comeback, I would be an outsider? I am sure this is a reference to the fact that she lives outside of Granite. However, when the requirement was in place for residency, she did purchase a home in Granite. Im sorry, but it is neither here nor there in my opinion if she was living there or staying there during the week. She was paying property taxes, which is the money you were looking for. You cannot tell me that half of the people in this city work here and shop here. I see the posts all of the time about going to Edwardsville because our stores suck. Also, test scores, I do not know why everyone thinks that the teachers, superintendents etc are all to blame for this. PARENTS!!!!! Parents need to make sure their children are doing what they need to do in school. You cannot blame the teachers and superintendents for test scores alone. When we have students who do not care about going to school, and their parents do not care. Your school test scores are going to drop. I am sure there are issues that I have not personally seen, but, I try to take everything that I see posted on FB ( teacher sex scandal) and other gossip with a grain of salt. I take what I know to be the truth, and what I have seen with my own two eyes to make my decisions. Some of the new candidates have really good FB pages, but let their facade down when they do not think people are watching.

Grad, that's a fair enough argument.
I agree that you can't blame the whole test score debacle on the staff of the district. In fact, it's a misleading statistic. However, the claim was made by her and a couple of board members that opening the door to outside candidates for admin positions would improve the district. Flat out BS.
Let's talk about that residency. I understand the BOE not worrying about administrators living here because they weren't enforcing the rule anyway. However, when the policy was abandoned by this board, they did say the Superintendent had to reside here. Look up the definition of that word and you'll see; she is breaking that rule. That's okay though. It's really not about her. It's about cowardly board members who turn a blind eye. I personally will remember that on election day and will only vote for newcomers.
To answer the other part of your question, yes alum can return here, and I hope they do. Just don't come here and pretend to care about this city and then go back up the hill at night while looking down on us.
I think she cares about kids. The problem several people on FB bring up in conversations with me is that she has to have her face in every picture and video about the district. It's not about her. It's about the students.
Finally, if you take the sex scandal of that creep Crider, after he put in writing what he did, with a "grain of salt", your head is in the sand. That piece of garbage took advantage of a young girl. That was swept away, and I only wish the father of that girl would have snapped his neck.
Happy New Year to you GC Grad. Thank you for the debate.Promises Made, Promises Kept! Republicans stood, the liberal left wept.

I guess I was under the impression that they lifted the residency requirement for everyone, my bad, if I am incorrect.
As for the sex scandal, no I do not have my head in the sand. I do think he took advantage of a young girl and it is a horrible situation all around. What I meant by taking with a grain of salt, is what Crider is saying supposedly happened with other adults, especially school district employees. He seemed to have a vendetta against the distric. Not saying that what he is saying isn't true, but I know for a fact that there are some untrue statements made about a district employee in his "book". So it makes it hard to know what is truth and what is not. Thank you for the great debate.

Thanks for clarifying regarding that maggot and his sex addiction.
Yes, the policy, as I've seen it still requires the superintendent to live in the district. Promises Made, Promises Kept! Republicans stood, the liberal left wept.
