I was upset years ago when they cut down all the trees on Fehling Road. They made the campus look so nice. Last year they cut down the ones in front to make a bigger lot and now they are taking away the ones on Nameoki Road.
Now I sucked at science but I do remember my teachers talking about the benefit of trees to our daily lives. I believe science is still taught in the district.
Shame on the board and superintendent for butchering healthy trees. I know she doesn’t live here but you would think Dr. Cann would be educated enough to appreciate the benefits of green space. Those trees were still healthy. You can tell by looking at them.they did not fail, because they did what their country asked of them....

You're damn right those trees were healthy, like you said, all you have to do is look at them. She put out some bullshit justifying their removal. She needs to be chopped down at the knees just like she did our trees. She's way too "Hollywood" for my liking.

They were dropping limbs left and right. I would see them in the field all the time when picking up my child. I do not think they were as healthy as you think. Yes, they did add aesthetic to the field. They are replanting trees. Now with that said, why are we not having a fit about all of the trees that have been cut down at the park? They looked as healthy as the ones at Coolidge. Yet one fell and crushed the dugout of a little league field, another barely missed the cars parked along the road. It seems one entity is being attacked over something just because people do not like a person, or do not like the change that comes with progress.

Actually when the park cut down the ones that border the outfield of the #6 diamond, I did call and question it and found the trees taken were diseased. I’m not sure what dugout you speak of because I believe only two fields actually have dugouts with roofs.
The trees taken down in front of Coolidge last year were taken to make bus parking and they were not replaced.
And admittedly regarding your comment about people griping because they don’t like someone, you’re right. I don’t like outsiders making decisions that impact our town and it’s appearance. That being said, these trees were taken to make way for a three sided fence to surround the Fehling road field. Not much security in a three sided fence, just lots of money.they did not fail, because they did what their country asked of them....

The field I am referring to is on the corner right by the high school. It is not a covered dugout. It took out the bench and the fence. The trees in front of Coolidge were not replaced, but should be replanted elsewhere, I agree. The parking was needed though to help with traffic flow. The fence will look better than the trees that are dying and dropping branches. Once the fence is up they are planting trees in front of the fence, smaller evergreens I believe. Also, the school board voted for that fence, not just one person. So you cannot say an outsider making that decision, anyone on that board could have said no. If they are too scared to,then they need to be voted out. Isn't she alumni of GCHS?

A fence is for security. A three sided fence provides no security.
You’re out of touch if you think the board is making decisions. Talk to one or two employees about how much control she is given. You’re right though. They should be voted out if they have let this happen.
As for her being an alumni, that’s not the issue. She is the highest paid person in the city (tax dollars) She is required to live in the district boundaries but only maintains what she refers to as her she shack. My cousins live on the same street and she has stayed the night at that property less than a dozen times in three years. But again that’s the school board’s fault. Therefore I consider her an outsider. The campus looks terrible now without the trees in my opinion. I’m waiting for them to cut down the ones in front of the high school next. We all have our opinions though so thanks for your view.they did not fail, because they did what their country asked of them....
