So far, so good. The big thing is you at least are trying. Nice to see the last 3 decades of sloth like laziness from the two previous mayors. You even are willing to schedule after hours appointments with citizens. Keep up the good work! Illinois and Granite cannot be saved but at least you are doing your part to slow the decay.

I pretty much agree, but the "clique" mentality still lives on I guess. Watched a video of the lighting of the Christmas Tree at City Hall this morning. I wonder what you had to do to finagle an invitation or at least prior knowledge of the event.

I have looked far and wide about any prior announcement of this. If it was there and I missed it, then it's my bad. If it wasn't announced for the general public to attend, then it's the mayor's bad. If I'm wrong, I will promptly apologize.

The pictures of the tree were beautiful but I too would like to see it in person some day. I agree Parkinson has hit the ground running and I hope his energy level can maintain.

The mayor is doing the best he can, the wife and I spent a few hours in Eville on Sunday. I love my town and will probably finish up here, but the traffic, stores, and people there made me green with envy……

I too Spent a couple of hours in Eville On Sunday in the A.M. I have to say the People there are very rude and snooty.The people there irk the hell out me!and to top it off they have the nerve to charge for bags! I was never so happy to get back to Good O'll Granite City .I don't care what anyone says there are still very good people in our community!

How do you know the ppl that irked the hell out of you were from Edwardsville? Maybe they were also from Granite City. I think on the whole people from Granite City may be a little more hoosierish than those from Edwardsville but the difference would not be all that significant. Edwardsville is obviously a richer community but id also bet that if you had been blindfolded you would not have noticed much if any difference at all in their perceived snootiness. In conclusion, the difference in the ppl from the two communities is pretty insignificant.

I'm thinking that Roy Epps might be thinking that he would have liked to have grabbed one of those numerous pardons.

I mean what the hell right??

Touche,Joe Smith ! But, I stand by my statement that there are a lot of good people that live in Granite City . From what I experienced Sunday
There was blatant arrogance from one citizen to another that happened in Edwardsville. As I said before I was very happy to come back to Good o'll

I dont have any real issues with Pontoon Beach for the most part, but i have to admit I am ready to get the hell out of here. I think i need to get more out in the boondocks for a while at least.

I think the mayor has done a fantastic job so far. He has made great progress getting eyesore buildings removed that have stood in disrepair for years. For the first time in years, I have hope for the future of GC. I love the fact that he does not hide from the public and has a true open-door policy.

My only complaint is he is only focusing on the downtown area while we are losing retail and sit down restaurants to surrounding community’s. There had been nothing done about the lost in businesses along the Nameoki business district from the last or current administration and the Economic developer don’t seems to have much of a plan either besides let’s put all of our marbles in downtown.

I would agree with you on this. That ship is being artificially kept afloat and Granite does not have the resources to do this without sacrificing other areas.
