When Albert Pujols left the Cardinals after the 2011 season many fans understood and supported his decision, but many more did not. He was called greedy, selfish, unappreciative, and much worse. The situations are somewhat different, but of course, Nolen Arenado is none of those things. That's how things work with sports, if the situation appears to benefit the home team it's a good thing, if it does not, it is bad.
Fast forward to today and Albert Pujols has been cut loose by the Angels. In his prime, Albert was a monster, a trust superstar but the California Angels saw very little of that Albert and his fat contract really hurt the team. In hindsight Albert leaving St.Louis was a blessing, his best seasons were behind him. He can sign with another team now with the Angels picking up most of the tab and some are clamoring for a reunion. Yes, some of the people that trashed him when he left are now wanting the Cardinals to bring him back so they can take a stroll down memory lane with him.
The reason the Angels cut Albert loose is that he can't play anymore. Hes a liability on the field so he mostly has to DH, and hes a 220 hitter these days with a fraction of the power that he once had. The National League doesn't have the DH yet, so that is a problem. With Covid and all, if the goal is to have feel good moments, then by all means bring Albert back, but if the primary goal is to win games and try to win the division it is a stupid irresponsible move. All these punks would have a quick change of attitude if the cops just started cracking some skulls.
I guess the feeling is that one has been per team is enough. All these punks would have a quick change of attitude if the cops just started cracking some skulls.
