Today I downloaded the meeting minutes from Nameoki Township's website. I wanted to see what was being accomplished, especially now since revenue is spreading thin. I fear a tax increase will be proposed or slid through via backdoor. Copied and pasted from the meeting minutes.
10 Aug 2020
GOOD: Resolution 2020-6: Setting Compensation of Township Officials for four-year term was read by Trustee Vincent.
Supervisor Susan Presswood stated, These salary reductions will save approximately $40,000 per year. She said that these positions are considered part-time. She doesn’t feel as though it is taking anything from anyone since all the elected officials have other jobs or retirement income, and so this is her recommendation to the board. A motion was made by Trustee Morris to approve the resolution, second by Trustee Nemsky. A roll call vote was taken. All voted aye; the motion carried.
BAD: NEW BUSINESS:
the Township will experience a loss of approximately $90,000 in Revenue beginning in the next fiscal year.
If memory serves me, this revenue was temporary only, made so by an agreement between Granite City and the Township. GC had annexed property belonging to the Township. I could never understand why the Assessor and Township only received this revenue considering the Road Department lost the miles.
27 Jul 2020
Supervisor Susan Presswood made a motion to Table Resolution 2020-5 Appointment of Consultant, second by Trustee Vincent. Attorney Donohoo stated there are few legal issues that need to be resolved.
Ugly: Public Input
From the same meeting minutes; Randy Presswood said the there is work being done to other parts of the park but the fence repair is not included in the project but it will be addressed in the future. Randy Presswood said he has met with the County Board Chairman regarding the cleanup/demolition of these type of properties, The County has found a funding source that can be used to resolve the issues and will be working on the problem properties.
My questions are, what is former Supervisor Randy Presswood's position at the Township currently? Is he on payroll? Is the Consultant position being created for him? And lastly, why did he resign from his elected position as Township Supervisor Jan 2020 since he clearly wants to remain at the helm with decision making at the Township?
Wait a minute. When and by what authority did his wife take over the position he was elected to and by what process? If he resigned and the board appointed her, she has to run at the next election.they did not fail, because they did what their country asked of them....
Apparently Opie, it was predetermined, because according to the meeting minutes, there was no discussion. Copied and pasted-
JANUARY 13, 2020
NEW BUSINESS: Supervisor Presswood read his letter of resignation as Township Supervisor, effective immediately. A motion was made by Trustee Abel, second by Trustee Nemsky to accept the resignation of Supervisor Presswood. All voted aye; the motion carried.
Township Attorney Donohoo then advised the board they had 3 options.
1. Appoint an interim Supervisor until the next meeting, but that person will have no check signing power. 2. Appoint someone to complete the current term with all supervisor powers. 3. Do not accept the letter of resignation.
A motion was made by Trustee Morris, second by Trustee Nemsky to appoint Susan Presswood to serve as supervisor for the remainder of the current term. All voted aye; the motion carried.
If she runs again, I've heard her opposition 'might' be Eric Foster. Also, I have heard that Randy Presswood will be running for Highway Commissioner against Daniel Harper. Daniel Harper is brother in law to Township Assessor Tammy Hanfelder, and father in law to Township laborer Ed O' Brian, both of Nameoki.MAGA
I don't know Foster or Harper. Is the police chief not running for the highway job again? they did not fail, because they did what their country asked of them....
