Democrats: "Trump is guilty"
Republicans: " No he's not"

Adam Schiff: "Am I on camera"?

I hate this whole waste of time. Not one person will be influenced based on what they heard today. If you went in thinking Trump was guilty and should be impeached, you feel the same tonight.

If you feel this is a witch hunt and a sham, you still believe that tonight.

My biggest issue is the line, " we won't give up the whistleblower and we don't know who he is". Well then how the hell do you know what he said or didn't say?

Also, and I know at this hearing it's not a valid argument but everything said by the two witnesses today was totally hearsay and inadmissible in normal court proceedings. Each witness testified they never heard first hand any evidence of quid pro quo.

So what we have here is what we know it to be. It's a verbal coupe, an attempt to overthrow a sitting President. We also know it will fail as there is no way the Dems get the necessary votes to remove him from office once this reaches the Senate.

This entire matter will be resolved by the American people next November. If Trump is re-elected it will be the will of the people. If he loses, the same.

However, we have now crossed into a new realm of political discourse never seen in this nation. A new democratic President will immediately come under fire. Trump will spend every waking minute and every dollar digging up dirt (as a private citizen) to take out his successor.

And just so everyone knows, all of us get screwed by this no matter the party.

Just one difference, whatever dirt Trump digs up on any Democrat president will be ignored by the MSM. It will not be parroted by 98% of the media, which changes the dynamics. Remember during Clintons impeachments Ken Starr was crucified by the media where Mueller was held up as an icon until he didnt deliver the goods.Trump will not be covered fairly as everyone knows. The DNC and the MSM are pretty much one and the same minus a few outlets.

And just one more point about the witnesses.

I'll give Taylor credit for his military service and his academic ranking at West Point. I question how much actual combat he saw and I'm researching that now.

However, the little bow tie wearing witness, Kent, had a body language and attitude that screamed, "ANTI TRUMP". If he doesn't have a personal interest in this, I'll be amazed.

And if these are the two best witnesses? Trump has it made. A law clerk could take these two apart in about ten minutes.

Exactly what about wearing a bow tie and his body language identifies Kent as anti Trump? Mic Mulvaney has stupid looking glasses, lol.

We DVR'd the hearings so I'm still in the process of watching, but I thought both witnesses were very accomplished and very credible.

As for the insistence that the Whistleblower be identified and must testify, that's merely a weak attempt to divert. His concerns were documented per procedure and corroborated by the witnesses.

Heresay you say... well, then have all the pertinent documents released and allow those that have first hand knowledge testify. We all know they why they want to fight that.

The two gentlemen that testified today have more patriotism and credibility in their pinky fingers that Trump could ever hope to have.

The facts are pretty clear and the Republicans know it: Trump witheld this aid until Ukraine agreed to announce investigations into Biden as well as Ukraine's role in the 2016 election. The only reason the aid was released was the Whistleblowers report (the aid was released 2 days later).

It's beyond me why people want Trump to get away with this, other than their own selfish self interests.

Letting this slide is unAmerican and is setting a dangerous precedent.

OM, I made a living out of reading the body language of people. Kent jumped on his answers while Taylor took a breath and addressed them with a pause.

Kent' leaned forward on every answer as if he was ready to pounce ( or possibly already knew the questions) The ambassador kept his composure even when grilled by the one sided GOP. Kent, at one point became frustrated and lectured one senator saying, "that's your constitutional duty", not mine.

Taylor was very up front by saying, " I never heard anything directly from the President or the President of Ukraine." "I'm here to tell you what I heard from a friend who heard it from a friend who heard it from his cousin." That's a laugher.

And not to play spoiler since you're still watching the tape, neither witness could answer the question, " did anything you HEAR constitute an impeachable defense. Neither answered.

This Kent guy, in a normal court of law, would have been eaten alive by anyone who ever practiced cross examination. You could have tripped him like a land mine.

Do I believe there was an effort by Trump to dig up dirt? Hell yes. Do I believe that has gone on forever in D.C.? Oh hell yes. These guys and gals play at a level you and I couldn't think about. Their power is such an aphrodisiac that they would say and do anything to maintain it.

Please tell me that someone of your obvious intellect sees this (and most other House hearings as nothing more than must see t.v.) Nothing ever comes from them except arguments among the differing opinions.

And yes, if this trial was held in a true public hearing, the whistle blower would be forced to go through cross examination or not be allowed to testify period. Under the "law" the accused have a right to face their accuser. You know that of course.

I mean you already know the ending of this movie don't you? Looking forward to debating with you. Hope you're well.

Oh and I'll say this about Mulvaney and his body language. He looks like a yes man and ass kisser.

All these Democrat witch hunts are charades. The Kavanaugh Con Job had the best drama, while the Russian Collusion and and obstruction was more drug out. This new round of BS is phonier than the others which is really remarkable in and of itself. Bidens obvious on video quid pro quo is ignored but what people heard third hand about Trump somehow is more significant than the actual transcript. Its so sad and pathetic, but they are dedicated, ill give them that.

This is what blows my mind about some of my democrat friends. They can call people racist, homophobic, white nationalist and all other names in the book if they support Trump. However, when the tables are turned, they get their feelings hurt.

I have no issue one way or the other with you. Frankly, I don't follow too many of your posts so I can't pass said judgement. You just walked right into where I knew you would. (based of course on my decades of experience reading people). Have a great night. Stay warm.

I want just one Democrat to have just a fraction of integrity and admit that they dont much care if Trump is guilty or not they just want his ass gone. I could understand that, but they just cant admit it, even the ones who know that is 100% the case. I know a few libs off this site that say whatever it takes to be rid of him, at least they are being honest.

OM, here's one thing I don't understand about Trump even asking for an investigation. We don't even know yet that Biden will survive the first primaries. Warren is kicking his butt in several places.

It seems all Trump has done in this effort, besides bringing the wrath of the dems down on him, is help the dems who probably want Joe to go away anyway.

OP, I won't question your ability to read body language, but can you clarify what it said to you about Kent's credibility. Do you think he was lying or had a hidden agenda? I think it was well established that neither gentleman was a "never Trumper" despite what Trump claims.

As far as them not commenting on impeachment, they were very clear that it was not their role to determine that. They both made clear they were non partisan. Had they given a yes or no answer it would have been seized on and spun any number of ways.

Yes, I agree there is a lot of underhanded deals done in the past and most likely will be in the future. Do you think it's in the best interest of the country to turn a blind eye to it when presented with these facts?

I think the Repulicans are stuck in a bad spot. I think almost all of them believe he did it (just as you do) and they believe it is wrong. This is not my original thought, but I heard several commentators say that many Republicans would like to take the approach that, yes he did it, yes, it was very poor judgement, in the end the aid was released, this must never be done in the future, but it's not an impeachable offense.

Why won't they do this.... Trump himself... he insists it was a "perfect call" and Republicans have to protect him.

If Trump and the Republicans are going to continue to push the hearsay defense they need to allow Mulvaney and Bolton to testify (and anyone else with firsthand knowledge).

I still have more to watch, time ran out last night. One of my favorite lines I did see was after Jordan using his combative voice demanded the "person who started this" testify (i.e. the whistleblower) Dem Welch replied "we'd be glad to have the person who started it all come in to testify.... President Trump is welcome to take a seat right there"

AOC Admits Impeachment Is To Unite The Democratic Party And Prevent ‘A Potentially Disastrous Outcome’ In 2020. Her orders were to keep that truth on the down low of course, but first and foremost she is an attention ho. Al Green was the first to let the cat out of the bag, so at least we know two Democrats are capable of telling the truth, even if they did so by accident.
