Best Crockpot Food

Thursday is supposed to be a bummer of a day weather wise and yet is still my day off.

Since I can't get much done outside and probably staying inside.... getting some things done, or possibly vegging --- I could at least get something started in the crockpot.

What's your favorite thing to throw in a crockpot when the weather is chilly and soupy out side --- so to speak?

Do tell... I might just give the best concoction a whirl on Thursday. (If I make it through today...)

I take chicken thighs or breasts, and brown them in a pan. Then take carrot, onion, mushroom, celery, diced tomato, garlic (add or subtract any spices or veggies you like/dislike) then. Deglaze the chicken pan with some red wine or broth, put the veggies in the crock pot with the juices, then rest the chicken on top. Cook until it's all done usually 5-6 hours. I like it with a loaf of french bread.

Another favorite is to get a nice fatty roast and put it in the crockpot low and slow with some beef consommé and onions and let it cook down and serve it over a bed of cheesy grits

618guy, you've got my apatite in high gear, both of those concoctions sound awesome, particularly on a day like today. Nothing better than comfort food.

I love crock pot cooking.

My favorite and easy go to recipe is, toss some boneless skinless chicken breast or tenders in the pot, add a half stick of butter, 2 cans of cream of chicken soup, add a few cups of water and let that slow cook for a few hours.

For the last hour, toss in some uncooked egg noodles and cook until the noodles are tender. Rich and thick creamy chicken noodle soup.

Hey thanks, you guys inspired me, I went and got a small roast at Cionkos and made the Roast and Grits meal, added a little balsamic reduction at the end, sorry about the bad pic my phone is old
