Gun proliferation works in those occasional cases to deescalate a situation. But if we went from 120 guns per 100 to 240 guns per 100.......do you really believe for a second that we would see a dramatic decrease in murders. Besides, even if concealed carry were effective, it still doesn't explain why people need AR-15's and weapons that can kill many people in a short amount of time. I stated from the outset that I am not against guns for protection. If Concealed Carry were regulated and continued to require background checks and permits, there is some of it that wouldn't be objectionable to me. But if more guns make a safer society...we still have more guns per capita than anywhere else. We should ALREADY be the safest society in the world. NO other country has guns like we do....and most countries (save 9 that rank higher) rank lower with gun violence. More guns yet, will not make us safer... Just as more poison will not make us healthy, just as more gasoline will not prevent fires...more guns will not prevent gun deaths.
