your part of our problem, better idea, put one of those plastic bags over your head, real tight. then, you may come to your senses.
The problem with our state is as follows, back in the sixties, we were flush with money and we had a lot of taxpayers. We also had a lot of strong unions, and im not against unions. I was an elected union official at General Motors. Get with me sometime, and ill tell you how abusive we were. Or, you can read about it in my book, The Factory of Dreams, its on amazon.
Anyway, most unions forced companies to provide all these treats that were popular at the time and the companies did so. They had no choice, or we would strike.
Now, i repeat, im not against unions, I believe we will see some good unions in the future, i personally think we could use a good one out at the warehouses as those working conditions are terrible. Our union at GM forced the company into bankruptcy. There is a big difference in unions. I will explain. We had a private union at Generous Motors, when we broke that company, we only harmed ourselves, not taxpayers.
The unions that are breaking us is not private unions, they are unions that guarentee the funds to be paid to the members from our tax dollars. And, before i ruffle feathers, i know there has been lot of waste of members money by companies. That my friends, is the problem here.
By the way, i have many friends retired, and will soon retire that are on these plans. Its a great gig if you can get it, lord knows I would, and so would you. We have less and less taxpayers trying to pay these funds that have been promised the pot of gold at the end, so we have to get more money out of the few that are left working. My real estate taxes on my home that probably wouldnt sell for more than me and the bank paid for ten years ago is $6000 a year. Folks, in real money thats 500 a month.
Thats totally unsustainable for the average retired person. Valuable friends of mine are taxed more that that in Eville, and Gville. A friend in Eville, and I stood in his driveway the other day while he exclaimed in disgust that his taxes on his house was $14,000 a year. He cried, just look at all these houses in my neighborhood, my god where does all the money go poor ol elroy?
I just told you where its going, its going into the fiery furnaces of Illinois politics, and the roar is getting louder.
Sorry, for the long post, maybe ill get a bag myself, lol. oh one more point and then i will end my sermon. A great friend of ours reccomended us buying a wonderful condo in florida 3 years ago. I paid $85 k for it, and its value today is 140K. The best part is the taxes are about 1500 a year.
This has wore me out to think this much because im not that smart, i call the tenth grade my senior year. im takin a nap now. lets all just get along, take the bit in our mouth and enjoy pulling the plow, and sing while we slave.
