City Creates new Ordinance to hire a city employee that doesn’t live in our cityArchived Message

So, apparently our city has created an ordinance to hire the economic developer and not require her to live in our city. So, if you’re not from here, don’t live here, how are you going to understand our issues. Why do we allow any city employee to live somewhere else? We need to have that salary base to get new stores, and restaurants in our city. No demand, no need. How hard is it to understand that concept? If you have to leave our town to go shopping, are you going to race back to GC to eat? Um, NO! We have no where to shop, and few places to eat. Don’t even get me started on the piece of property between McDonald’s and the corner there, the city allowed that to be financed and purchased through GC for $50,000 or under. Does our city not need the money to sell that at top dollar? We need real help. We need school board members changing the requirements for teachers to be residents here as well as our police. We need people to work here and live here too. When that happens, one of the largest employers which is the school district, that has larger salaries that would increase the demand for all of the things our city is missing. We need change, and fast.
