    I hate to be pessimistic about all of this, as I do think that hiring a Director of Economic Development is important for our city.

    That being said, I think that this is a poorly made decision. I don't mean to criticize the hiree as a person/professional, as I have never met her, worked with her/seen her work on display.

    However, I don't know why we would pay someone $95,000 to work as an Independent Contractor, not a city official, which tells me that she won't be forced to live within the city limits. This means that a $95,000 annual salary is free to spend their money outside of our city limits.

    This is ridiculous, I don't know why the Mayor and City Council think this is a good idea or course of action for our city. I would encourage our residents to vote for new leadership in the coming elections, and make all future city hires live within city limits.

    I'll get off of my soapbox now.
