    I was reading This Article
and it got me to understand a few things.

I mean Granite City is not without its attempt at bold measures. The attempt of the Art and Industry thing..... The attempt at a 'spruced up downtown' ...... The attempt in years prior to develop the Highway 3 corridor and Nameoki Road.... The attempt to redevelop the depot....

Some of these ventures have been successful, some have not.

Leaders will get hell for the ones that didn't work.....but thinking boldly and encouraging positivity and investment in the community should never go out of style.

It's palpable that the city itself is at some kind of crossroads, a worrisome one at that.

Just don't be so down on the things that didn't work.....and even if new ideas seem far fetched, at least they are attempts at bringing life to GC. When the initiatives come to an end......and the creativity ceases...... be very afraid.

I"m a naysayer about these 'artist lofts', personally......

But it's time to give it all a chance. I have enjoyed parking my car along Niedringhaus Ave in the past few years...without feeding a parking meter.
