Several years ago we had an older Dodge Ramcharger that we kept parked off the street in front of the house.
Well, some kid got drunk and stole a car from grandma in the middle of the night and went driving around and smashed in to the back of the Ramcharger. Hit it so hard it shoved it forward about 6 feet when we found it the next morning.
The officer that took our report said they had pulled the kid over the night before still driving around with the airbag deployed and had wondered what he had hit.
We were given our police report and instructed to keep all the receipts in repairing our vehicle, and to show up at the kid's court date so that grandma's insurance could settle. Dave fixed it himself for around $500 in parts.
Well, down the road when Dave got to the court date with his receipts, he found out that the charges and the ticket given to the kid for the damage done to us had been dropped, so we never got reimbursed for anything.
The kid was charged with everything else he had done that night, but our stuff had been dropped.
