When I was a trustee for the Village of Pontoon Beach, I had asked Mike for permission to put two absolutely gorgeous plants that I had grown for many years, a Norfolk Island Pine, and a "corn plant", both over 10' tall and in nice, large containers, in the foyer of our Village Hall.
We got many compliments on the plants, they looked wonderful and thrived in those big glass windows. Even after I left, the women in the office took great care of them. I looked every time I drove by to see if they were neglected. They weren't.
I had called the village some time later and asked in the office how the plants were doing, asked if they were still welcome, or in the way. I was planning to re-pot them, and had also asked Mike Pagano about them, if they were still ok being there. He assured me they were fine. Pretty, even, he liked them.
I don't even remember what it was, but I remember saying something true on here about Charlie--and the next time I went by the Village Hall, my beautiful plants were gone, and no one knew where.
Mike told me later that he found out that Charlie had thrown them in the trash. Each of those plants to replace from a greenhouse would be very expensive.
Great way to appreciate the beautification efforts and donation from a fellow resident of Pontoon Beach, Charlie. At the very least, the polite thing would have been to ask me if I wanted them back.
