I'm standing in line at Subway last fall, waiting on lunch, with a Pontoon Beach officer ahead of me, and another woman in front of him who beat me to it and kindly bought our officer his lunch.
Anyway, standing side by side with him, looking at the menu board, I said hello to him, and introduced myself as one of the former trustees--the one who helped to get rid of Denham and get Mike in there (whom I had also "educated" about my dealings with Charlie--who was soon "retired" and replaced.)
I told the officer "they'll never tell you that I did it, but I did."
We both continued to look ahead at the menu board for a full 10 seconds, and then I heard in a very low, very sincere voice, "Thank you".
We both continued to look straight ahead at the Menu board. "You're welcome", I replied, and smiled.
His sandwich was ready. He picked it up and left, with both of us wishing the other to have a nice day.
