Is there a hotly contested local issue that has you really mad? Maybe a whole list of them? Think you can do a better job than the people who currently are representing you? Well, don’t just sit there, help fix the issue by running for office.
Whether you’re seeking a seat on the local school board, a township office, or even a State or Federal office, running for a political office is a challenging endeavor. Being successful requires careful attention to detail, a rigorous schedule, and a lot of volunteers, and residents who believe in you and your ability to get things done.
Talk to your local constituents, family and friends. You are going to need help, and support. There are candidates who are running for the first time in the upcoming April election. They have put a good deal of time, and effort into making a difference, or they wouldn’t be running. Sitting back lobbing grenades over the bow of the ship is easy to do from behind your computer, but if you really want to make a difference, GO OUT AND VOTE!
Folks, if you live in Nameoki Township, you shouldn’t put up with the same old crap. Look to this election to make a change. I get it, Nameoki is a small township, and does not have a large population, but you know what, corruption exists everywhere, even in small town America.
Vote to make a change, maybe take a look at an old face, with a familiar name. I guarantee you that there are fresh alternatives out there, people who have dedicated their lives to public service, maybe not in politics, but helping others when they needed it most. Working with families in their times of need, and helping to put shattered pieces of people’s lives back together after a disastrous incident. Let’s not keep what we have, we deserve so much better than this. Vote for a change in the Township that you live, get rid of the current “hacks”, and put some fresh faces in there.
Spend some time getting to know these new candidates, they are residents just like you and me. Before you cross their names from your ballot, just because they have a relative in local government, get to know them. Follow their social media campaigns, and understand their platforms. Maybe, just maybe, they aren’t as bad as a few portray them to be. And just maybe, if given the opportunity, they will make things right again. It’s been a long time since we could say that, but we can take back our Township, and make things work again.
All I ask is spend some time getting to know the all the new candidates. It will be worth it in the long run. Vote on April 4, 2017 for change.
