I feel dirty after talking like GENO and trying to capture the GENO Spirit.
It's hard for me to comment on the situation of the current or perspective mayor.
There's something that says he's doing a great job for the current realities in town.... there's another side that says as long as an opponent is legitimate and has a decent plan...it may be time for a new person.
That's as wishy washy as one can get.
Just remember that industrial hires more people than retail and pays higher property taxes, if for no other reason than the amount of land.
I think revitalization of downtown, Nameoki Rd, and Highway 3 are always worthy efforts --- but GC can never hope to become a bedroom community.
The location to water, rail and road is near ideal as well as proximity to a major city center.
However, if St. Louis itself is no longer a vital hub for much, Granite City can't hope to be more either.
A mayor of Granite City needs to have savvy in working with other government entities as well as the corporate sector.
From a distance, I hope the best person is selected to lead Granite City in 2017.
