It's unfortunate that Granite City didn't make it obvious that it was for sale. The property sold for very little money, definite loss for GC. It's funny how another Gitcho got this property right next to another Gitcho. I hope GC was diligent about getting a rendering or business plan for what would go there before they accepted the bid. I too feel it may be another extension of a crappy car lot on a main intersection in Granite. Even if one person couldn't have beat Gitchos bid, maybe if the many citizens of Granite that live here were aware of this great property that was for sale, several could have gotten together to buy it and maybe grow a business there. I'm sure some of the laid off steel workers would have jumped at an opportunity like that. Too bad it was not as obvious as the crappy sign right out front, perfect for a for sale by the City of Granite City.
