It's become so commonplace to turn on the news and see another shooting or armed robbery that guns violence just don't mean anything anymore.

You know, in general, violent crime is down drastically from where it was when I was a kid. With all the media we have these days, you just see it reported more often. It's click bait for them. Moreover, the media loves these kinds of shootings, they make alot of money every time one happens. They should never report the name of the sh!tbag when things like this happen. In doing so, I hold them culpable. One of the biggest motivating factors behind these kinds of shootings is become infamous over feeling ignored/unimportant. Stop making them famous, and you will reduce the number of events.

Bleeding hearts say we need more mental health facilities, screenings, blah, blah, blah. What we need is for people to report it every time they read about or see a perceived threat from one of these nutjobs. Then we should eliminate them swiftly.

We do have a problem with mental health, whether you are able to recognize it or not. From most of the homeless to most of the "criminals". Some of the issues start young and at home. Even so, most of the families of people who have committed these horrible crimes had no idea their kids was capable of doing such things. Furthermore if we were to just "eliminate" anyone who a psychologist thought could commit a crime like these, we be "eliminating" alot of people who never would, but just had some strange quirks people with PhD's or otherwise aren't able to understand. Not every guy you think is weird is violent, and in most mass shooting cases, they were people most would perceive as quite normal. To paraphrase you, "we should kill a bunch of innocent people, out of fear some of them might in turn kill a few innocent people"

If you are reading these words, YOU ARE MUCH MORE LIKELY TO DIE IN A CAR WRECK THAN AT THE HANDS OF A GUN MAN you are probably more likely to die slipping in the bathtub. Quit being fearful of things that are actually quite rare.
