I know teachers unions are a huge lobbying group both locally and nationally. What I don't get is why they keep sticking their noses in politics when it keeps blowing up in their faces.

    FEDERAL LEVEL

" No Child Left Behind" Major failure and big imposition on teachers and classroom productivity. Ousted Bush but what has Obama done to help classroom teachers? ZIP!

    STATE LEVEL:
"Standardized testing": One of the most useless and misunderstood methods of evaluating a teacher's performance. No sense even talking about what the democrats have done to education in Illinois. (Can you say lottery rip off?)

    LOCAL LEVEL

Whining and complaining about forensic audits, schedules, blah, blah, blah but keep endorsing incumbents. And then you never again hear about such issues. I wonder why.

Teachers work hard. They are charged with bigger challenges now than ever before in our history. The teachers who are successful stay out of politics and just do what they are paid to do each and every day. When their leadership takes them into political battles or, as in the case with the link they shoot their mouths off without seeing the fallout, they only do their members harm.
