This group usually doesn't do this, but they released what the challenge will be about this time around.

    Friends of GlobalHack,

We just announced the project for our first civic-focused hackathon (GlobalHack V), which is September 11-13. GlobalHack teams will work together with the Civic Tech for Social Impact Collaborative – including St. Louis County, Rise Community Development, and OpenDataSTL – to create technology solutions to make it easier for people to navigate the criminal justice system and resolve their issues faster. Many citizens and organizations are calling for more openness in the local court system and equity in the enforcement of fines for small-scale infractions. Through this event, we’ll be able show how technology can provide transparency, access, and accountability to the local court system.

    Prizes
Outside of the great meals, snacks, and beverages that we provide at our events, we've getting ready to handout some big checks for GlobalHack V:

    1st Place Team - $30,000
    2nd Place Team - $15,000
    3rd Place Team - $5,000
    Top College Team - $5,000*
Top High School Team - $5,000*
*Team must be composed of exclusively all college or high school students, respectively. No "mixed" teams are eligible for these additional prizes.

College, High School and Youth Divisions
Do you know of a student who'd benefit from participating in a GlobalHack hackathon? Send them our way so we can help them organize a team. Discount codes are available to incentivize participation. There are no age limits for GlobalHack events!
