We have received the following statement from Helen Hawkins, Nameoki Township Clerk. She has asked that we relay it in the Discussion Board:
An article dated July 16,2015 appeared in The Advantage publication. This article was written by Theo Tate. (Article appears below)
The Advantage reported that salaries had been decreased for several township people in the amount of $5000 per year.
This is not true. There have been no salary decreases for any elected official or township employee for the next fiscal year.
I have contacted this publication and requested that a retraction or correction be made as soon as possible.
As it is with all public documents, the approved budget voted on by the trustees, is available for public inspection or duplication by requesting such at the township office.
As a an elected public official, trust must be earned, and I hope I have earned that trust through my many years as a public servant. I am always available to listen when you have questions, concerns, or suggestions regarding the Township government.
Sincerely, Helen M. Hawkins Nameoki Township Clerk 4250 State Highway 162 Granite City, IL 618-931-1230
