To the real fathers of this country. I'm not talking about the baby-daddy sperm donors or the assclowns who don't own up to their responsibilities.
I'm talking about the guy that gets up every day and goes off to work, maybe even two jobs, to take care of your families. I'm talking about the guys who treat their wives like their true better halves and show their children how to respect that woman. I'm talking about the guys who no matter how tired they are at night take the time to help the kids with homework or play a game of catch.
Being a dad is the most important job a man can have. He's the guy who sets the standard for how to grow up proud and respectful. I hope my kids feel I meet that challenge as their grandfather did in my life.
For all the fools who don't take care of their kids, who don't help them in every step of their lives, who don't care about anyone but themselves? There's a special place in the afterlife for guys like you.
To my dad who is no longer here, there is no will there ever be a man I respect more. I wish I could have five more minutes with him to let him know just how special he was and how proud of him I am.
