"You still have one very major issue. If you inflate class sizes, reduce teachers and eliminate custodial jobs, they will strike when contracts are up. I remember a few of those strikes. Only the kids lose." And there it is folks, what you are reading above is the their last attempt at blackmail. The voters WILL do what we want or else! We will NOT give up anything! We will CONTINUE to repeat the past behavior that has put the district in the position it is in now. Furthermore, how dare you expect us to make any concessions, we deserve and are entitled to all we get and more! I say, let's take our chances. I'm willing to gamble. Let them strike. With every striking teacher walking the picket line, there would be 75 on their heels ready, willing and able to slide right up to their desks and start working for far LESS money. The same goes for all the custodians, let them walk! People would line up around the block to grab one of these open positions. The same goes for every other position within the district. Monitors, cafeteria employees, secretaries etc. " I'm not complaining and don't plan in running. You complain. You run." Now even that statement won't shut my mouth. It doesn't work that way, as much as you would like it to. We are all entitled to an opinion and I have mine. You asked what I would do to change things and I told you. If you don't like my answers, that's fine with me. Everyone on this message board listened to you whine and complain and argue for months over the presidential election, and I never read one time about a local Granite City man throwing his hat into the ring, so deal with it!
