We had some family members from Colorado stop by for a quick visit on their way back East. My 12 year old cousin asked "where's the Beach?"-- we live in Pontoon Beach.... I told him if there was one I sure didn't know where it was. I didn't grow up in this area so I don't know the origin of the name.
Does anyone know if there was a beach at one time... at Horseshoe Lake maybe? I'm assuming the Pontoon part is in reference to that type of boat. I'd be interested in any history of how the town was named.
