From the Granite City Fire Department's Facebook page:

Man credited with saving life of his neighbor.

On Wednesday, January 8 around 12:15 pm, Anthony Foreshee was getting ready to leave his dad's house, when he heard a strange beeping noise. Mr. Foreshee knew this was not coming from his current residence and looked outside. He noticed a large amount of smoke pouring out of his dad's neighbor's house on the 3100 block of Wayne Ave. As Mr. Foreshee ran over to the smoke filled house, he heard the smoke alarms going off and a dog barking loudly from inside the residence. Mr. Foreshee proceeded to bang on the front door. After several attempts, the door was finally answered by an elderly man. Mr. Foreshee rushed inside the residence and assisted the elderly man with getting his dog out safely.

The elderly man reported to Police and Fire officials that he was sleeping on the couch when his house caught on fire. He stressed that if it was not for the banging on his front door, he might have never woken up.

Mr. Foreshee's actions saved the life of his neighbor. Due to his quick thinking and selfless reaction, Mr. Anthony Foreshee will be awarded The Granite City Fire Department's Community Action Award later this month.
