Apparently some people are so filled with hate they can't even properly comprehend what they read or hear on the news (not that the news is perfect).
I've lived in Ferguson since 1987 and I'm sick of people who claim it was Ferguson (black) residents who did the looting and burning. Even after hearing on the news that those arrested and charged were ALL from somewhere else. All I've talked to, both black and white, agree on this. My part of town is about 50 per cent black. That figure has been a stable for about 10 years. A few young white families have bought houses here in our neighborhood as well as blacks, and right now across the street a family is having considerable improvements done on their house (started before the Michael Brown incident and continues). I talk to some of my black neighbors, and all seem reasonable, friendly and pleasant and are concerned for the future of Ferguson. All the houses in my neighborhood are tended to. There are many "I (heart) Ferguson" signs in yards all over Ferguson.
I'm sick of people who don't live here and probably have never even driven through this town once in their lives who seem to be experts on Ferguson. That only shows me that these "I'm not racist, BUT..." people will look for any excuse to fuel that "but" part.
About 20 years ago, yes, Ferguson started "going down". We had troublesome neighbors (BOTH black and white). But they're gone for the most part. Many civic and private improvements and businesses owned by both blacks and whites have opened and prospered. Apparently...SOME people don't like to see that happening.
It's funny, but the first night when they decided not to display the "military look" how calm the protesting was. We have a situation here where an 18 year old kid was shot to death with absolutely no word from the police for an explanation of what happened. We have only rumors. Strange how a racial incident was averted on a similar event in north St. Louis because the police were honest and revealed in less than two hours testimony from witnesses and the officer's position to those who were beginning to congregate in protest. Protesters seemed satisfied and eventually left and that event is almost forgotten. We in Ferguson STILL have not heard any official explanations from police in what happened in Darren Wilson's view. How are we to perceive them in their silence? Is this protocol? Is it even proper?
As far as Rand Paul...I'm all for him. I've had it with Democrats and Republicans who stood by and did nothing when the manufacturing base started to erode in this country. It started in the 60's when tariffs were lifted on imported goods. Neither party did one thing to stop this, and it's been all downhill from there.
