Those unfriendly, threatening signs have been there for a while. They say to stay off the banks, or you will be fined. Friendly and to the point, don't you think?

Since crapping up the shoreline with apartment demolition refuse, and then covering it up with "aesthetic" white rock, though adding stability for Lake Drive, it is now unsafe for walking or standing on.

There were also reports of kids throwing the white rocks in to the water, exposing the trash hidden beneath.

Our public lake front on Lake Drive would be a perfect place to implement a lovely linear park within the village, with a few inexpensive improvements. Your pleasant memories of old should still be possible today--it's not too much to ask, really. It could be a great community project involving area service organizations and volunteers.

Cooperation from the mayor's office would be necessary. When the subject was brought up at a committee meeting, almost two years ago, the proposed project was inflated in their minds to something much larger, and much more expensive, and quickly dismissed as unattainable with the present village finances.

Maybe the new mayor and his followers will be more open to suggestions made by others.

    Thanks for asking.
